New tenancy laws (effective May 19, 2025):
"No-grounds" evictions will be abolished.
Landlords will need a valid legal reason to end a tenancy, for both fixed-term and periodic agreements.
Penalties will be introduced for landlords who give "non-genuine" reasons for termination.

而你截取的这段"No-grounds" evictions will be abolished.针对的是之前fixed term没到期或者periodic期间随便乱赶租客走的现象。正因为这个改变，房东更不愿意periodic，因为新法生效以后，end of fixed term成了唯一合法又快捷的清租客理由。
